Yes, the new Ransom features the familiar Scott technology with a hidden shock, as well as a completely new six-link suspension. But let’s go through everything in order.
This enduro bike will still have a 170mm travel in the front and rear, however, according to the manufacturer, the new linkage system allows riders to better adjust the suspension.
Also, the new Scott bike can be equipped with 29-inch wheels or a 29-inch front and 27.5-inch rear.
At the time of release, there should be five models available, including the women’s version Contessa. Prices start at 5,199 euros for the Ransom 930, and the top model Ransom 900 RC will cost 9,999 euros.

Hidden shock
All models in the Ransom lineup have a carbon front triangle and aluminum swingarm. The exceptions are the fully carbon 900 RC and Contessa 910.
The front triangles here are made of high-modulus Scott HMF carbon fiber, and the top model 900 RC is already made of HMX carbon.
This, according to the manufacturer, allows reducing the weight of the front triangle of the 900 RC, as in this case, the walls of the frame tubes can be made thinner without sacrificing strength.
Of course, the most noticeable difference of the new Ransom model from the previous one is the hidden rear shock, located in the down tube.
Scott representatives claim that this design allows increasing the stiffness of the frame and concentrating the center of mass in the bottom bracket area.
The low position of the shock should also contribute to lowering the center of gravity – thus, the bike, for example, should be easier to steer in turns.
Moreover, according to the manufacturer, the idea of a hidden shock allows reducing its necessary maintenance since, in this case, it is additionally protected from water and mud that can penetrate the seals.
Again, let’s remind that the Swiss manufacturer recently started collaborating with Fox, as a result of which the Float X Nude EVOL rear shock with three settings was developed – these are Climb (uphill), Ramp Control (anti-squat), and Descend (downhill). You can select one of these modes using the Scott TracLoc shifter on the handlebars.
Absolutely new six-link suspension
The rear shock here is set in motion by a new six-link system – it provides a 170mm suspension travel, and the main suspension linkage is located around the bottom bracket for greater stiffness.
According to the manufacturer, the new six-link design allows better tuning of the suspension kinematics – for example, its leverage, the influence on pedaling, and the dependency on braking. Moreover, all these parameters can be changed independently of each other.
To access the rear shock, you need to remove the protective cover from the lower tube – underneath it, there will be a special hatch.
Additionally, there is a compartment for storing items inside the frame, also covered by a hatch. Ransom bikes use a special Syncros Matchbox set, which can be pulled out directly from the lower tube.
The set includes a spare tube, tire levers, chain tool, and a folding tool kit. Essentially, it’s very similar to the Save-The-Day kit that comes with mountain bikes from Bold Cycles.
On the lower rear dropouts of the new frame, there is a special rotating element that allows you to choose between a 29-inch or 27.5-inch wheel. Additionally, in the area of the bottom bracket, you will find an integrated chain guide.
Enduro Geometry
The new Ransom bike is available in four sizes: S, M, L, and XL. For all sizes, the head tube angle in the most “slack” position is 63.8 degrees.
This angle can be changed by swapping the headset cups – in addition to the standard ones, there are cups available for angles of 64.4 and 65 degrees.
The seat tube angle for frames of different sizes will be, respectively, from 77 to 77.6 degrees. The length of the lower dropouts does not change depending on the size and is 440mm.
The values of the effective length of the front triangle (“rich”) are quite modern – 458mm for a size M bike.
